Mirthe van Doornik is a writer and documentary maker. In 2016 she established herself as an important writing talent: Van Doornik won the jury prize for both the NPO Book Week Writing competition and the Scheltema Writers’ Academy. Her debut novel Other People’s Mothers (2018) has received various nominations and won the ANV Debut Prize 2019 and the Lucy B. en C.W. van der Hoogtprijs 2020.
Various magazines and newspapers wrote articles about Other People’s Mothers including De Volkskrant, Trouw, De Correspondent, Dagblad van het Noorden and NRC Handelsblad.
Following its great success in the Netherlands, including the ANV Debutants Prize 2019 and the Lucy B and C.W. van der Hoogt Award, Mirthe van Doornik's Mothers of Others is published in German by Haymon Verlag.
